Music for Photoslice

 

In the spring of 2008, we were approached by Atmosphere BBDO to assist on a promotion called Photoslice for their client Corona Extra.

 

Photoslice is powered by a proprietary web application that allows users to upload their photos, choose the soundtrack from a list of pre-cleared tracks, and have the whole thing turned into a highly dynamic slideshow in which photos are displayed in time with the music. These slideshows can then be shared freely with others via email and embeds in various social network sites, such as Facebook and MySpace.

 

Based on creative direction from Atmosphere, we solicited songs from the independent label community, then licensed those chosen for inclusion. While artists are not paid, they receive significant promotion by being identified prominently in user-generated Photoslices, including links to their MySpace pages.

 

Artists participating in the December 08 launch of Photoslice include The Audition, Good Shoes, Shy Child, Ladytron, Bonde Do Role, Future Pigeon, Plus Move, Alex Moulton and others.

 

By promoting participating artists in exchange for the use of their music, Atmosphere reduced its music spend to zero. Meanwhile, Corona reinforced its stature as a taste-making brand by featuring top-shelf emerging artists.
