Free MP3 promotion

In the summer of 2007 we began working with Gamefly, the Netflix of video games, to provide free, unencrypted MP3s as both an incentive for gamers to subscribe, and as a reward for existing subscribers.

Each month Gamefly posts 5 MP3s on its web site, in a section called Gamefly Tunes. A Featured Track is available to everyone who visits the site, while the remaining four tracks are available only to Gamefly's many subscribers. Visitors are encouraged to share the Featured Track with up to 5 friends at a time.

Artists who've contributed free tracks to this promotion thus far include Moby, Iron & Wine, OK Go, Thievery Corporation, Santogold, The Sword, Plain White T's, Ben Lee, Tokyo Police Club, Little Brother, Cut Chemist, Phantom Planet and many more.

Gamefly subscribers are rewarded with free music every month. Meanwhile, non-subscribers can easily share the Featured Track with friends, resulting in more eyeballs on Gamefly, more awareness of its service, and ultimately, more subscription revenue.
